1. When will I receive my license key?
Your license key will be sent to you by e-mail immediately after your purchase is approved. It usually takes less than an hour. A network problem may delay or drop the e-mail. The e-mail may have been misdirected to your Junk mail folder. Please send us a support enquiry or e-mail to if you have not received your license key within an hour of your purchase.
Please note that if you purchase by eCheck, your license key will not be sent until we receive notification that your eCheck has cleared your bank; it can take 7-8 days to clear your bank.
2. Why I did not receive your support e-mail?
Normally we will write you back as soon as we receive your e-mail. If you have not received our reply within 24 hours, please check the spam control of your mail client as well as the firewall and anti-virus software settings of your computer as they may block our e-mails.

4. Can FutureTax transfer tax information from other tax software?
FutureTax cannot transfer tax information from other tax software. However you can auto-fill tax return and retrieve tax data from CRA Server.
5. Can I have back up of client returns on a USB flash disk or a disk drive?
Yes, FutureTax saves tax returns into FutureTax file (*.r24 etc). You can copy or back up these files on your USB flash drive or disk drive.
6. At times I go to a client and gather data or information on a laptop, can I transfer the same to my desktop and work on the returns?
Yes, you can transfer the FutureTax files (*.f06, *.f07 etc) gathered from your laptop and open them with FutureTax on your desktop.
7. Can I use FutureTax on my laptop and my home computer with one license key?
License key has to be installed on one computer only. You can prepare your tax returns on other unlicensed computers and transfer the tax return files to the licensed computer and file them to CRA.
8. Why does my browser warn me your software can harm my computer while I am to download?
You can ignore it by clicking the button to continue the download.
9. Internet Explorer has just displayed the message after I downloaded FutureTax - "futuretax.exe is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer". What should I do now?
To continue installing FutureTax, do what follows:
- Click the Actions button in the displayed message;
- In the SmartScreen Filter dialog box, click the down arrow to the left of More options, and click Run anyway.
10. I used Future Tax last year. Unfortunately, I did not print a copy for myself. Do you keep any records from last year?
We don't keep any of your records. All tax returns are stored on your computer. Please remember to save your tax returns when you prepare them in FutureTax.
11. How do I delete a tax return?
The path of tax return file is at the top blue caption bar of FutureTax. Locate the file in your Windows Explorer and delete it. Then the file is removed from the Start Screen of FutureTax.
12. Can I install license key on a different version of FutureTax? Can I transfer unused license number to next version?
No, license key cannot be installed on different versions of FutureTax. Unused license number is not transferable.
13. Can FutureTax import from other tax software?
FutureTax does not support importing from other tax software.
14. I get the error message when submitting tax return - com.sun.xml.internal.messaging.saaj.SOAPExceptionImpl: Message send failed.
1) Please install Java Runtime Environment 32 bit from https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp . Click the link "Windows Offline". After the file is downloaded, double click it to Install.
2) If it is still problem, please disable anti-virus program that blocking the submission.
15. Where are my tax return files?
First, you need to make sure your tax return has been saved before (.cor files is for CRA report only). Then open our software, your files will be shown in the file list on the first screen. The default path location is at My Documents\FutureTax folder. If files are not there, please search the tax return files(*.tYY or *.tYY2, YY is last two digits of the tax year) from all of your hard drives on your computer.
16. When I click Import/Carry Forward, no previous tax return appears
If you saved your tax return in the previous version, just locate the tax return file on your computer. The default location is under the sub-folders of My Doucments\FutureTax.
17. What do the colors of the field mean?
There are four colors (black, green, blue and purple) for a field in FutureTax. Black means the field is input manually; Green means the field is transferred from the other form, double click it to open the form; Blue means the field is calculated by the software; and Purple means the filed is default by the software, however it can be input manually if applicable.
18. I cannot find my tax return from the previous year when importing it. How do I find it?
Find the folder where your previous year's tax return is saved on Windows Explorer. Copy the file path of this folder, and paste it into the "File name:" field in the Import/Carry Forward Previous Tax Return file dialog. Click Open and you will be directed to the correct folder.
19. How to Refile my tax rerturn??
A T3ADJ form can be sent using My Account or Represent a Client or sent by mail. Please see below for your reference.
