• FutureTax runs on Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11. It requires 128 MB of memory, 100 MB of free hard disk space, and an Internet connection to submit tax returns online.

• FutureTax does not support saving tax return files directly to Dropbox or any other cloud storage service. The files must be saved to your local drive first.

• FutureTax does not support Apple Macintosh operating systems, Chromebooks, or Linux/Wine.

• FutureTax runs on Parallels Desktop for Mac; however, you should use it at your own risk.

• Most computers come with Java preinstalled for Internet applications, and FutureTax can run with Java without requiring any additional installation. However, if FutureTax prompts you to install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) when submitting a tax return, try one of the following:
- Go to Java JRE download page and click the "Windows Offline" link. After the file is downloaded, double-click it to install it. (Note: The downloaded file name must contain "windows-i586".)
- Alternatively, download OpenJRE and double-click the downloaded file to install it.

• To submit your tax return over the Internet, make sure that your antivirus software (such as Norton, Bitdefender, or Windows Defender), firewall, and/or other Internet security programs (such as ESET Endpoint Security) running in the background on your computer are not blocking FutureTax's Java program from accessing the Internet.

• Tip: It is a good habit to back up your tax return files manually by copying them to a different folder on a regular basis. We have no control over your computer, so you are responsible for keeping your files safe. Otherwise, you may have to log in to your CRA My Account or use Auto-fill (AFR) to retrieve your tax return information.
