Previous step: Step 9: Submit Your Return

Our T2 software supports both NETFILE and EFILE submissions.

WAC

To request a WAC in the software, refer to Requesting WAC. If you already have a WAC and need to enter it, see Entering WAC.

Requesting WAC

To request codes within the software, version 2025.2 or higher must be used. A license key is not required to obtain your WAC.

If you are using a T2 version lower than 2025.2:

  • If you attempt to request your WAC, you will receive a message stating that getting your WAC will only work in version 2025.2 or higher, or error 349. To resolve this error, you must use version 2025.2 or higher to request your WAC. If you do not already have version 2025.2 or higher installed, go to Download FutureTax T2, download and install version 2025.2 or higher, and then proceed.
  • You will not need to recreate and submit your return prepared with the lower version in version 2025.2 or higher. In a later step, you will copy the WAC generated in version 2025.2 or higher into the lower version.

Note: If this is your first time filing, you will not be able to request your WAC in the software. You must contact the CRA to request it.

  1. Open the return you want to submit.

If you are using a T2 version lower than 2025.2: Returns created in older versions cannot be opened in version 2025.2 or higher. You must first import or carry forward your tax return file. To do so, click Import/Carry Forward on the Start Screen, or go to the top menu and access File > Import/Carry Forward.

  2. Go to page 1 of the T2 jacket.

If you are using a T2 version lower than 2025.2: You may notice that some data is not transferred from the import or carry forward. You can continue, as it is not necessary to complete your entire return exactly as it appears in your lower version in order to obtain your WAC.

  3. Ensure that line 001 (business number) is completed accurately.
  4. Ensure that line 061 (tax year-end) is completed accurately.

If you are using a T2 version lower than 2025.2: Your return's tax year-end has been changed. Enter the original tax year-end date. If a warning appears stating the date is not supported, click OK—the date will still be saved.

  5. Go to page 1 of the Corp Info worksheet.
  6. Enter the corporation's incorporation date.

  7. Complete the Notice of Assessment (NOA) section.

  8. Click WAC Code/Efile in the top toolbar.

  9. Complete the following fields:

    • First name
    • Last name
    • Title
    • Postal code (mailing postal code of the corporation)

Note: Click Help for WAC for more WAC help.

  10. Click Get WAC. Your WAC will appear in the textbox beside it.

If you are using a T2 version lower than 2025.2: After you obtain your WAC, open your lower version and click WAC Code/Efile in the top toolbar. Copy your WAC from the version you used to generate it, then paste it into the same WAC textbox (the textbox beside Get WAC) in your lower version.

  11. Click OK.

If you are using a T2 version lower than 2025.2: Click OK in both your lower version and the version you used to get your WAC.

Entering WAC

  1. Open the return you want to submit.
  2. Click WAC Code/Efile in the top toolbar.

  3. Enter your WAC in the textbox beside Get WAC.

  4. Click OK.

Entering EFILE Number and Password

  1. Open the software.
  2. Click WAC Code/Efile in the top toolbar.

  3. Enter your EFILE number and password in the textboxes provided.

  4. Click OK.
